Healthy Me! Science Unit
During my lead teaching, I planned and implemented a Healthy Me! science unit based on the Michigan Model for Health curriculum for kindergarten. Throughout this four week unit, we studied nutrition, physical activity, personal safety and health and wellness using a variety of kinesthetic, hands-on and technology-based activities. Below you will find links to the calendar of lessons and an sample lesson plan from the unit.

Toothbrush Power Investigation
As part of our health and wellness studies our class did an experiment to demonstrate how brushing our teeth is pertinent to our dental hygiene. Through this experiment, we were able to discuss what a hypothesis is, make hypotheses and determine whether or not our hypotheses were correct. First, we placed an egg in a cup of pop for a few hours and made hypotheses regarding what would happen to the egg. When we went back to examine the egg, it was stained brown. We discussed why this happened as well as made further hypotheses regarding what would happen when we brushed the egg using a toothbrush and toothpaste. After brushing the egg we discussed how the egg is like our teeth, the pop like germs and food particles, and why it is important to brush our teeth at least twice a day.

Healthy Me! Science Unit Review Game
As a wrap-up to our Healthy Me! science unit, I prepared a Jeopardy review game using Microsoft PowerPoint. Below is a link to the game.
